Operational Flow Between Magento and Other Apps – Should Magento Be the Hub?

Hi All,

I am hoping you can shed some light on what might be best here. I am wondering if Magento should be the hub of operations or another software like an ERP (Odoo). It is hard to see the big picture and consultants seem to not know anything in detail.

We are a b2b distributor who sometimes drop ships, purchase inventory, send quotes, accepts POs as payment, ship UPS and freight and are looking to get into Amazon. We have used Odoo in the past with a bigcommerce store but have moved the accounting end to Quickbooks.

My question is: Option 1: Should we use magneto with a Purchase, drop ship, listing app, shipping, where Magento would be the hub and feed into quickbooks? They even have ERP extensions for Magento now, I am not sure how good they are.

Or Option two: We use Magento as a website only, maybe use a listing app, use odoo for inventory, product listing, invoices, shipping ect. ?

Any feedback would be wonderful as there is obviously no set way to do this and I’m looking for functional simplicity.
