Developing an extension for Magento, makes sense?

I am an experienced developer with an idea how to (slightly) improve the revenue of a store.

Currently trying to decide for which platform to develop my extension first. Does anyone here have experience with selling Magento extensions? Shopify has it’s marketplace, and woo has envato & others..

Should I consider Magento?
